Web Corner: Global images contest

Global Images contest
photo by Vennie Encheva ‘ 10

The Alumnae Association seeks original photographs from alumnae who live and work outside of the United States or who came to MHC as international students for our first annual global images contest. We are looking for photos that reflect a key or essential aspect of life in your city or area. What do you want the Mount Holyoke alumnae community to know about your ancestral or adopted home—its landscape, customs, or people—and how does your photo express that knowledge? Winning photos will be posted on the AA's upcoming global Web page.

The global page is a new addition to our Web site. Coming in early spring, it will feature international alumnae events and conferences, breaking news, videos, and photos. The page will also include links to international alumnae club Web pages. The global images contest is inspired, in large part, by the McCulloch Center for Global Initiatives’ recent contest for students. Winning student photos, and their revealing one-paragraph essays, are posted on the center’s Web page and are also featured in a CGI 2009 calendar.

Please submit, with your photo(s), a brief paragraph describing the location and setting, the circumstances under which you took the photo, and what you feel the image expresses about the place in which you live and work. The winner will receive a Flip Mino HD camera with a custom case.

The contest deadline has been extended to Monday, March 16, 2009.

You can enter two ways:
1. Email your photo and brief description to J. Johnson, Designer, Alumnae Association
or
2. Click here to submit your photo and description to our Flickr Group.

We look forward to seeing your work!
