Greetings from the Alumnae Association’s new Executive Director
Preparation and Celebration
For most of us, December is a month of preparation and celebration. We each have our own annual traditions that we observe and share with family and friends: Chanukah, Christmas, and Kwanzaa to name a few. And it wouldn’t be December if we weren’t also making plans for celebrating the past year and ringing in the new one.
This December, I have a very special preparation and celebration: moving from Pennsylvania to western Massachusetts to join the Mount Holyoke College community. As I pack and pitch, sort and store, my thoughts focus on the many new people I will meet in the coming year. The Alumnae Association staff, volunteers, and board members are already providing me with invaluable information about the strengths of the association as well as the challenges ahead.
I appreciate the magnificent contributions of W. Rochelle Calhoun ’83, my predecessor, who left a strong and vital Alumnae Association that is attentive to the needs of alumnae and a close partner with the College. As the new executive director, I embrace the opportunity to help the association reach its goal of becoming a paradigm for alumnae associations worldwide. Most of all, I look forward to meeting and creatively collaborating with as many of you as possible in the next year as we strive to keep the association relevant and responsive to the evolving alumnae community. The joy of the year to come will result from the relationships I will be privileged to form with you, the outstanding women of Mount Holyoke College.
Until January, I will continue to prepare for the holidays and for assuming my new responsibilities at the Alumnae Association. And in the meantime, I wish you a healthy and happy holiday season.
