Transitions: What’s Your Next Step?

Are you considering midlife changes for yourself? This workshop, led by the Alumnae Association's career and professional coach Cori Ashworth, M.Ed., is specifically targeted for women in the 45-65 age group who are entering a new phase of life—reflecting, planning, and moving toward a new kind of experience. In this workshop we consider reinventing and expanding our possibilities. Women at midlife have much to do, learn, and contribute in their lives. We build on this philosophy and bring it into focus, ending the workshop with a personal plan you can take home with you.
Arriving on Sunday, we will start with a luncheon at the Willits-Hallowell Center, a warm and comfortable retreat environment. After lunch, we will review two assessment tools which participants will have completed in advance of the event (the Myers Briggs Type Indicator and the Life Options Profile). Later in the afternoon we will hear personal stories from a panel of accomplished women who made significant changes in mid- to later life. We’ll follow the panel with a casual cocktail hour and then a relaxed dinner at Willits. Extended conversations about the material and your process will be encouraged through the retreat activities.
On Monday morning we will gather and consider questions from the prior day, then focus on exercises and small group discussion about new directions and next steps. Over lunch, we will hear from guest speaker Barbara Reinhold, Ed.D., who will lecture on "Brainpower: Editing Old Scripts for Greater Creativity, Innovation, and Joy." An expert on recent breakthroughs in applied neuroscience, Barbara will follow her talk with exercises that will help participants set and realize exciting new goals for themselves. After a short break, we will work together in small groups to identify action steps for each participant on her path to success. At workshop’s end, you’ll have a chance to connect with a partner for follow-up work and check-ins. The entire group is invited to reconvene with Cori Ashworth by teleconference a month following the event.
