The Alumnae Association is pleased to sponsor Alumnae in Action, a program that supports alumnae service projects in local communities around the world.Alumnae in Action was created in support of the College’s mission to unite the liberal arts tradition with purposeful engagement with the world. The program is meant to extend and deepen the Mount Holyoke experience, and to provide alumnae with club/class activities of substance and meaning that benefit their communities.

Alumnae in Action initiatives have included urban gardening, environmental cleanup, and food bank volunteer projects. The Alumnae Association organizes volunteer events in the local Mount Holyoke community each year in the spring and fall. Click here to find out more about our fall 2007 project.

The Alumnae Association will provide resources and free promotional support for Alumnae in Action events. At the request of your club or class, we will also provide a free action kit containing custom-designed water bottles and bandannas with the Mount Holyoke College and Alumnae in Action logo. After the event, photos and descriptions of Alumnae in Action events around the world will be posted on the Association Web site.

Future Alumnae in Action service projects may include participating in walkathons to support organizations working on behalf of those with AIDS or breast cancer; volunteering at homeless shelters, senior centers, or shelters for battered women and children; or working with local chapters of nonprofit organizations such as Habitat for Humanity or the international Red Cross.
