We hope these two officers will help connect Mount Holyoke alumnae with other Northern California alumni groups, and keep us informed of all the best the other groups have to offer. In the area of student relations, Sarah McLaughlin '00 has replaced Kina Chadwick as an Alumnae Admissions Representative, and plans to work with high school students in the East Bay who are applying to Mount Holyoke. San Francisco Chronicle Highlights Real Estate Agent's Marketing Prowess
The San Francisco Chronicle praised Maureen Kennedy's '79 "Renovator's Open House" in a Sunday, January 28, 2007 article in the newspaper's Open House pull-out section. Faced with the challenge of helping a seller command a higher price in a buyer's market, Maureen came up with a creative way to increase traffic - and interested offers - at the open house of an outdated home. She invited a builder, a designer, and a paint expert to help visitors imagine what the fixer-upper could be. In her past career, Maureen has led a United Nations delegation on housing to Geneva, managed the nation's single-family and multi-family rural housing loan programs as a presidential appointee, and advised HUD Secretary Henry Cisneros on housing and urban policy as his Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy. Now, as a Realtor, Maureen brings a breadth and depth of experience to her business of serving clients looking to buy or sell their homes in the East Bay Hills cities of Piedmont, Berkeley, and Oakland. She also devotes a portion of her practice to matching below-median income families with homes they can afford. Visit her online at maureenkennedy.net.
Reunion 2006- Members of the Class of 1956
Jean Dickinson Mazzei '81 had a mammogram about six years ago that called for a double biopsy. It turned out benign, but in the seven days that she waited for the results, she took a look at her life and decided to focus more on what gave her joy. Jean started a rock band at the age of 40! She bought an electric guitar, wrote songs, and found people to play with. She is now releasing her third CD, called "Face of a Nation". Some of the songs are socially conscious, some pop, but they all represent different viewpoints of American life. Jean looks forward to connecting with Mount Holyoke alumnae, and can be reached by email or phone at 415-467-9135, or through her website.
Business Owner Reaches Milestone
Suzanne Agasi '93, founder of Clothing Swap, was raised on hand-me-downs and felt forever fashionable. She built her business to share the idea that anyone can look like a million bucks with creativity and little cash. This month, Suzanne hosted her 100th Clothing Swap. She has organized swaps in the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City for more than a decade. The events are for women only, and women of all ages, styles and sizes are encouraged to attend. Swappers bring clean, gently worn or new items. Once the swap begins, attendees try on clothes and keep the ones they like. All unclaimed items are donated to the local women's shelter/clothing bank the next day.

Alumna Founds School to Study Social Activism
In 2005, Kathy Emery, Ph. D. '77 joined with three others to create the San Francisco Freedom School. Inspired by the Freedom Schools that were part of ?Freedom Summer,? a project of the Southern Civil Rights Movement in Mississippi in 1964, their curriculum and pedagogy are explicitly political. The group studies film, text, and eyewitness testimony to provide activists, educators, students and adults with an opportunity to analyze how social movements happen. This is done through studying the Civil Rights movement as a case study of how ordinary people, not just famous leaders, contributed to ending segregation in the South. The school is currently looking for participants as well as benefactors.
