Alumnae in Action: Fall 2007 Food Bank Farm Project October 20, 2007 [Total:24]
On Saturday morning, October 20, a group of Mount Holyoke alumnae,
staff, students, and friends gathered together for the fall 2007 Alumnae
in Action service project, held at the Food Bank Farm in Hadley, Mass.
Volunteers helped prepare produce grown on the farm for distribution to
the Food Bank farmers' market and to local shelters and soup kitchens.
Class years of alumnae ranged from 1959 to 2006--while conversation in
the barn ranged from global climate change to the latest news from Mount
Holyoke. Organized by Leanna James Blackwell, director of
communications, and Krysia L. Villón, assistant director of clubs, the
fall 2007 Alumnae in Action project at the Food Bank farm was the latest
in a series of events that bring alumnae together for service project in
their communities.

Alumnae In Action Gardening the Community 2007 May 5, 2007 [Total:34]
On Saturday, May 5, local alums, staff, and MHC students traveled to Springfield for the second annual spring *Alumnae in Action* event in honor of Earth Day. Working with volunteers from *Gardening the Community*, an urban community gardening and youth advocacy organization, the group prepared dirt beds and planted flower and vegetable seeds in a quarter-acre lot located in downtown Springfield. The organic vegetables are harvested in the summer and fall and sold at a local farmer's market.

Alumnae in Action at Food Bank of Western Massachusetts November 9, 2006 [Total:17]
A lively group of nearly 30 MHC alumnae, staff, and guests (including one notable guest not yet one year of age) gathered together on Thursday, November 9, 2006, from 4-7 pm at the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts for the fall Alumnae in Action food service project. After refreshments and a tour of the recently expanded and renovated facilities, alumnae volunteers got to work sorting food in the warehouse, preparing information kits, and writing hundreds of cards to Food Bank volunteers.

Ann Arbor Alumnae in Action Event May 7, 2006 [Total:11]
The Mount Holyoke Club of Ann Arbor volunteered at the University of Michigan's Botanical Garden's 26th Annual Plant Sale in May, in Ann Arbor, MI. Sevanne Demirjian '95 wrote, "Our group had a great time... We had over five decades represented at the plant sale, from the 1950's to 2003. It was a beautiful day and everyone liked the Alumnae in Action idea so much they wanted to participate again next year!"

Alumnae In Action Spring 2006 April 29, 2006 [Total:25]
In honor of Earth Day, local alumnae clubs and classes joined MHC students for an environmental service project at River Valley Academy, a school for children with special needs in Holyoke. The school recently moved to a new site and needed help cleaning the site, repainting the basketball court, pulling weeds, and planting trees and shrubs.
