Welcome
Letter from Club Presidents - Summer 2007
It's been over a year since our last newsletter. From the birth of Jeanne's second child to the passing of Amy's grandmother and other life challenges in between, we haven?t had time to be in touch lately. While times of transition can be difficult, they remind us that you can?t do it all at once, but must take life in a series of steps.
Despite a lull in communication, the Club has had some successful events recently. The Holiday Reception last December was extremely well attended. Dr. Elizabeth Barrett-Connor '56 not only hosted the event, but gave a fascinating lecture on new issues in women's health.
In April, Jeanne hosted our annual Accepted Students' Tea. Although only one accepted student attended, the event saw an increase in attendance from alums, and everyone had a great time sharing Mount Holyoke memories.
The month of April also brought a visit from Rochelle Calhoun '83, Executive Director of the Alumnae Association. Over dinner with several San Diego alums, Rochelle shared that the Alumnae Association is doing well, recent issues between the college and the association have been resolved, and that the association is trying to become more technologically current with an emphasis on moving from paper to e-mail communication.
Based on low attendance at last summer's activities, we decided to take a break this summer, but have a full slate of fall activities planned. We hope you'll be excited about and plan to attend them all!
Finally, we've mentioned it before, but we really do need help running the Club. Even if you don't think you have time, there are small things that you can do to help. We would like to extend a special invitation to our next Board Meeting to anyone interested. You don't have to commit to anything, just come and find out what roles are available. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, August 14, 2007, 6:00 pm, at Jeanne's house.
We hope you all have a wonderful summer and look forward to seeing you in August!
